stood almost the whole time during my job. now i can't feel my toes. im practically working my toes off. >.<
i packed CNY hampers the whole day, continuously. which is monotonous and robotic. had to be really careful when handling anything made of glass because:
1) breaking one would cost you the day's pay, at least..
2) i have a phobia of glass breaking, i hate having to see glass broken, or to hear it.
held back after work for 15mins because our supervisor found out that the number of hampers we recorded as done did not tally with her's.
yx had a little argument with her.
maybe both of us recorded the numbers wrongly, or she recorded them wrongly, which was unlikely.
then yx had to cancel some of his and i cancelled some of mine to make it tally.
... waste time, and lost money...
i was quite sure i recorded what i packed...
then yx say he go ''serious'' mode tomorrow.
-.-
always like that. don't know why he keep sulking after that.
either he's mad at me or at the supervisor.
mad at me because i may have recorded wrong or because i packed a little more hampers
or mad at supervisor for making him waste time n money.
so i felt moody after i got off train and walked as fast as i could to get home.
but not before bumping into zhiqi and ZM when i got off train, ithink they were going home from clifford's house.
bet they were playing wii, i was invited but i couldn't go because of my job, it seriously wrecks my social life.
then anslem and annabel got off the train, with annabel's mom? i dunno. and auntie told us we keep calling annabel ''ahma'' lol.
said bye as they were going home soon. parents were not home when i got back, so i sat at the stairway and spaced out.
i stared into air
chiiiiiiii~
was simply tired from the day's work. at least i learnt something today:
1) outside food is oily, not good for health and has small portions.
2) i wanted to eat that nasi bryani today, but it costs $4, twice as much as my daily lunch meal. so it wasn't really worth its price.
3) saving money is hard, earning it however, is even harder.
4) a good balanced breakfast is a must for survival
5) always record hampers wrapped accurately
6) Muttons to Midnight is funny, as always
7) im tired of listening to repeats of songs from before year 2000, please... the radio tuned to gold 90 fm plays everyday at work. although i would like more elvis or michael songs.

recounting the past few days:
last thursday:
worked half day, was preparing baskets and stuff so that it will be easier to pack hampers when 'rush time' during chinese new year orders come in
christmas party was today too, was preparing fried chicken when first guests arrived, which was my cousin, YS. haha, im YA
out of the peeps i invited, only Bran, Stan, Pl, kenneth tan and yx could make it.
ky had some church event? zw also had some event, daniel could not make it, benny, i think he was chionging 2x, cp also i guess. also invited zh but no reply O.o...
but still had plenty of fun, but not as spirited as last year, less peeps u see...
hopefully next year more can make it.
lol, had fun playing remote controlled helicopter at void deck and park after meal. its as if we all became small kids. also played tt, although played that less as there was high wind.
it was only after 12 did everyone returned home. dropped dead in bed after that. too full to move, too tired to think.
last friday:
met up with godfather and family today, the first time after they arrived just a few weeks ago from perth. godpa lost weight but godma gained weight instead... omgosh..
visited their home in the morning at about 7-8am. callista was not there as she was doing community service at a home for the aged. so we talked and joked together till 1+, laughed alot at the part where godma reveals that he allows callista to pinch him in return for hugs. we decided to have lunch after that.
callista has a really good complexion. darn this weather in SG. so warm and humid.
if it were only 2 degrees cooler in the afternoon.
godpa says that if i were to pursue and education overseas in future or to go overseas to work, im welcomed to stay in his house and he will support me, aww... he's always soo kind.
saturday(today):
had to work halfday today, same thing too, just preparing stuff for work on monday. had to move super heavy stuff from 8th floor to the 6th. heavy, but im strong, haha, im praising myself.
then spent about 2 hours taping cardboard supports, super monotonous and boring, yawned a couple of times and i even tried shuffling my feet to music playing from a nearby radio to entertain myself. michelle is so lucky to get a $7 per hour job sitting down and staring at people.
after that, went home and played computer. internet was screwy today. was kind off angry and scolded the internet router outside my room all kinds of profanities. lol, i scolded a non-living thing...
fed up and went to sleep. seems that the connection problem is solved, thats how im able to blog now.
opened my presents, received quite a few cool shirts, first time i liked having clothes as christmas presents in a long while. i got mainly shirts and chocolates, even a rubiks cube and a photo frame!

heh... felt that i shouldn't ignore blog posting
so here i am..
and, let me tell you about my day.
hamper packing jobs are all about the nimbleness of the fingers and packaging skills.
that's the job i've been doing since last last week.
so i leeft home at 9.50am, carrying a book along to read during the train ride.
its title is [ the five people you meet in heaven ]
im just halfway through though, maybe i'll give a book review when i finished reading ;p
so me and yx reached the place at 10.30am and we started work..
pack pack pack, pack nice nice, pack with stuffings and ribbons and boxes of chocolates and sweets and bottles of wine. etc...
we went for lunch at 1+ i guess...
the canteen was not opened, so we ate at a nearby hawker centre.
went back at 2+, pack pack pack till 6pm + then finished work for the day. packed 28 hampers today(each of us), kind of little. but that's because we packed an assortment of hampers. including ones with at least 4 wine bottles and 2 champagne glasses in it.
so im back here now, resting after standing on my feet for the full duration i was working, hard work, but interesting.
yx scrowled that we earn so little per hour, but im kind of fine with that. its not that hard a job.
will be going claudia's house tomorroww for christmas party, and on the 24th. there's a christmas party again. wow.
i wonder what kind of gift i should buy. claudia did say something about a gift $10-$15?
maybe i'll be going shopping before work tomorrow. work starts at 9.30am, im expecting lots of hampers to pack, afterall, its the day before christmas eve.

lazy sunday.
i went to park in the morning. on the way back, i saw an interesting sight.
i saw a young bird trying to fly XD
it was my first time watching a bird learn to fly, it was just on the ground, flapping its wings frantically as though it were taking a dust bath.
in the afternoon, whole family went to fish farm to buy some fishes. it had to be the day where reservists from the army camp nearby to be released. the whole road was clogged, with cars that were driven by ppl who came to fetch the throngs of guys in army uniforms.
mayb that is a part of my future in 2 years time.
dad got pissed when a young guy in army uniform who tried to guide his car further down the road.
dad screamed that he's going to the fish farm and not one of those drivers clogging the road up.
well, i just rewrote his outburst in a less violent tone.
we eventually got to the fish farm and bought a bag of molly and a bag of goldfishes.
then we went to GIANT supermart to buy some groceries. and i bought some Wonka Nerds! woohoo. i bought the sour ones, lemon and apple, while my sis bought the watermelon and wildberry flavour.
oooh im such a fan, whoever invented this was a genius. maybe its Wonka himself!?
lol
but they are a perfect sunday afternoon's candy:D

YX: =( e guy havent call
Mum: hi
and a whole lot more that consists mainly of one or two words
employer havent called me for job today... sigh. shipment havent arrive -.-
mum bought a blackberry type of phone, with those really small buttons and keypad that are too tiny to use...
i've finished Roald Dahl's The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and six more
it includes 6 stories, including the story of henry sugar and roald dahl's first written story about his accounts of world war 2
did you know that he was not a really good in writing essays when he was in prep school or when he was studying in a private school?
he describes his highs and lows in school vividly, with such wit and humour, i could almost imagine the scene when he got caned by his headmaster!
roald dahl only started to write after his encounter with writer C.S. Forester. only when he heard from him that a publisher had so readily accepted his written account of his war experiences did he have to confidence to write all the marvellous tales we enjoy in the present.
if i could only meet him and tell him how much i enjoy his story of Charlie & the chocolate factory and James and the giant peach or the BFG.
these are what he thinks that are qualities a person must have or acquire to become a fiction writer:
1) lively imagination
2)able to write well. by which he means that a person is able to make a scene come alive in a reader's mind using words.
3) have the stamina to stick to what you're doing. even after months
4) be a perfectionist. one must never be satisfied and rewrite a story till its as good as it possibly can be.
5) strong self discipline
6)keen sense of humour, vital for writing books for children.
7) possess a degree of humility. a writer who thinks his works are marvellous is heading for trouble.

wheeee...
yesterday yesterday was the last night of my waiter job.
it was a tough job but a good one though.
my arms are still so sore... i can't straighten them.
its december.
you know what that means....
drumroll...
its........
the season for jobs!! XD
haha, i know, unexpected right?! you thought i might blurt out ''Christmas'' or anything related to it.
bah....
its time to earn more dosh and spend them on presents for my loved ones.
yes, sad to say, those hours of slogging as a waiter will be converted to cash and spent on presents, given away......
maybe im just being a scrooge.
eek eek. i don't want to be a grumpy old man. ]]:(
but its the spirit of giving, its suppose to make one joyful. maybe that feeling will come to me real soon :)
by the way, is there any place in Singapore where there exists a sky untainted by street lamp lights or smog? i want to see the stars at night and make a wish.
its a secret, so im not telling.
fly me to the moon, and let me play among the stars~
that reminds me, a certain someone told me, a few months back, before the O'lvls:
aim for the moon, so that you may fall among the stars...
so i kind of thought of that on the trip back to SG aboard the plane. i saw stars in the night sky above the clouds outside the window.
it was a magical sight..
ok, i feel sleepy.

my first job
is being a waiter at My Humble House at the Esplanade.
the job is quite tough, we had to help with wedding banquet preparations.
the tables were so heavy, at least 3 helpers were required to carry it.
let me tell you from last night's experience; balancing food on your arm is not easy, balancing cocktail glasses is even harder! i wonder how the seniors balance it with such grace.
the job was generally simple: bring dishes out, then bring in used plates to wash.
one catch: the dishes were usually on a wide platter, with up to six plates on it. requires steady grip and strength. also required good sense of balance.
for me, i did not have to serve the guests, but just bring food out when the banquet started.
started work at 4, worked till 1am.
my arms are still shaking.... even now when i hold a spoon.
but was quite happy. the wedding banquet was successful, seeing the groom and his bride enjoy the night gives me a certain sense of accomplishment and some indescribable inner happiness.
did not get to eat wedding cake though, only senior staff could enjoy it TT
was kind of cranky because they made us do every small thing after the banquet ended, even though they know we used up so much strength carrying the food.
only reached home at 2-3am, hoping that parents won't scold me for coming home late. instead they just welcomed me home.
only in this job for 2 days. today's the last day and i will receive my pay soon^^ hopefully.
going to pack christmas hampers next wednesday.

First day:
Changi Airport.
Taking Cathay Pacific airplane to HongKong.
its was a 3hour+ journey, and i enjoyed every moment of the flight. food served in airplanes are yeuch.. not very good tasting. but i liked the apple juice.
because i got a window seat! :D
HAHA, SH would have been really jealous, because i could take alot of cloud photos from where i was :D
ooohh... thats high, btw that's the South China Sea. and i really did take alot of cloud photos, i just don't have the time to upload them all. :(
we arrived in HK in the afternoon. from the airport, we reached the city by coach(bus).
i did not know the name of this bridge, but it was awe struck by its size. we travelled through it. there are two such bridges in this city. It's called Tsuen Wan Xi, i think...
HongKong has, like, many cities. Singapore, well, is only a city.
HK's railway system is called the MTR while SG's system is the MRT O.o
HK's citizens speak cantonese or guangdong hua while SG's citizens speak Singlish.
the exchange rate of currency is about 5 HK dollars for 1 SG dollar.
both HK and SG are in the same timezone.
port area
we checked in into a 5star hotel, L'hotel; Nina et convention centre.
we booked 2 rooms.
and that was the room my sis and I shared for the next two nights
there was free time after we checked in, so we went to Ladies Market in Mongkok
it was like a giant pasar malam down an entire street.
bought a few stuff down there, like an umbrella because my umbrella had spoilt a few months ago lol. mum bought a few t-shirts for me, a solar powered wobbly head doll like those sold in minitoons or comics connection for sis and 1 hand bag for herself, probably imitation XD.
it was a tourist hotspot. therefore, many items made in China were sold at many times higher than its original price. there was fierce touting, bargaining, deals made. the stall holders really knew how to do aggressive marketing. first they would invite you to look around their store. if an item catches your attention, they will try to sell it to you. to be able to buy an item at a cheaper price, one had to act uninterested in buying that item, or bargain. these people are veterans in their trade so it was not easy to strike a fair deal.
it was terribly smelly because the streets reeked of tobacco. there were many smokers in this area. but i guess all big cities are like that.
the L'hotel. stayed in here for 3 nights
was tired out from the standing around. that's why i seldom shop, there's no seating areas!
made myself coffee and added lots and lots of creamer. now it kinda looks like kopi with milk found in hawker centres in SG.
the view in the morning from the window was magnificent. check it out, our room was at the 69th floor.
Day 2: woke up and we all went to eat breakfast in city area. ate noodles, but i do not know the its name in cantonese
went to a park, the elderly in HK have an amusing habit of singing, dancing, doing yoga, morning exercises or playing muscical instruments in parks.
went back to hotel to rest.
this pics were taken from parent's hotel room window
before i forget to mention, we went to Disneyland that day :))
crowded crowded crowded
My ticket :)
i still enjoy watching parades. this band was awesome.
this was a kiddy ride XD, we didn't even need to steer. go-karts at Escape were way more fun :P
Cinderella's castle.
Dumbo!!!
I love Stitch, Mickey and Chip AND Dale
Space mountain was twistingly FUN.super curves at this roller coaster.
I can name them all. owl, rabbit and winnie the pooh's poor bum here.
Pooh's other half body, tigger, piglet and eeyore here.
ooh, i wish i had this, but it was only for display...
went around Disneyland collecting coin press collectibles.
watched a beautiful fireworks display at night, took a video but pardon my shaky video, i had to tiptoes and hold my phone for 10mins! video is at the bottom of post:)
overall, it was fun. its like reconnecting with an inner child-like you. where the world is so much more innocent, peaceful and warm.
Day 3:
That, above is the golden Bauhinia, famous landmark in HK. and 3 photos up was suppose to be the world's tallest building when its completed. compare its height to the skyscrapers beside it. wow.
went on a tour of the city.
the beach below is repulse bay, a popular beach with both the tourists and people living in HK.
the buildings in the background belong to the rich and famous, including Jackie Chan.
the price of living in HK is really high. One square metre of land could cost as much as a few ten thousand.
the picture of the hill aboce was suppose to resemble a dragon head. try to picture it as a dragon. pun not intended.
Temple, once again, i do not know its name. its along repulse bay. a god of fortune statue is popular there, touching it from head to toe and putting your hands in your pocket is supposedly thought to bring luck, wealth and fortune to you.
after that, we went on a sampan tour of Victoria Harbour.
nice harbour.
Heey.... Jumbo restaurant. I think One Piece has something similar to this, hmm, a floating restaurant...
went up a hill by coach to see the skyline of HK. a little hazy though, pollution caused by vehicles and smokers.
open top bus tour. super windy, its like being in a wind tunnel XD
We took the MTR to Luo Hu then went through the imigrations and everything to reach Shenzhen.
shopped around a shopping mall. mum bought 2 bags. oops, my bad. not 2 more, but 3 more handbags and 1 for my sis, so it was 4 more handbags.
yea, that's me. the air temperature was like the examination hall during O'lvls, so i wore my jacket throughout the trip.
Day 4:
went to the tourist attraction. name shown above. hardly took any pics because that place was filled with miniature attractions of china like the great wall and such. was too lazy to take pics.
the mongolian horse back fight was fun to watch. i was most fatigued at this point of the entire trip and i got a throbbing headache, maybe due to dehydration. visited shopping malls in Shenzhen city...
omgosh...shopping...again-.-
took MTR back to tsuen wan xi and reached there by 7pm. STayed in L'hotel once more :)) this time our room was on the 76th floor. view of city from window was the same, but HIGHER.
Day 5:
shopping in Tuen Men. took MTR once more. kinda like the MTR now, so similar to MRT, except that the MTR has a first class carriage with many seats. throughout the trip, I had to stand, for about 15mins to 1hr becasue there were no available seats.
dad got lost finding way in the malls. btw, it was 4 mega malls connected to each other. took MTR back to tsuen wan xi.
timing for lunch was delayed and we delayed the coach for 15 mins.
look at that mountain/ hill in the background, so beautiful...
departed the city by coach. was sad to leave but i miss SG too.
photos taken along the way to airport.
this lamp post kinda looks like a bean sprout, because the bus was shaking and so was my hand, so the photo turned out amusing.
HK International airport
almost forgot... the dim sum in HK is the best i've ever tasted >.<
its also affordable. about 30+ sg dollars for a full meal for a family of 4.
dim sum here costs up to 80 sg dollars for the same meal -.-
meals often consist of stir-fried long beans which were my favourite dish in this trip, steamed fish slices or fried fish, vegetables in oyster sauce, a fatty roasted duck, fatty pork and tofu.
dishes were often oily>.<>
but the dim sum was great:P, so was the noodles, and fishballs, and long beans, and ...etc
hope the next trip will be unforgettable too:D
signing off.
p.s. blur pics XP
fireworks display was really really awesome, don't you agree?
