I thought I'd share my GP tutor's message to our class:

Dear 1017, 1014 and 1003,
Although it is only 3rd Dec, I would like to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS, because I'll be away soon. I would have loved to send all of you christmas cards, but that might bankrupt me.
Well 2010 has been a hectic year for you, and I honestly I don't remember what went on in my JC1 year. I mostly remember my JC2 life and it was good! Ahh, what I’d give to be young again...
So in 2011 you will be in JC2, and it's going to be a rough (and tough) ride towards the university of your dreams. If you have not done as well as you’d like in 2010, then you can put in more effort in 2011. It’s a (relatively) new start!
I hope you will enjoy this December break, but please don't let what I've taught you fly out of the window! Brace yourselves by stocking up on essence of chicken, ginseng, gingko bilobia, bubble tea, etc. And even though JC2 will be tough, the end rewards are great (looooooooong holiday, university, army, what's not to like? ha) and I promise that I'll be there if you need a tissue or hanky or listening ear when the going gets tough. 'Cos when the going gets tough, the tough get eyebags. And then go to Miss Cheng.
I’ll be away from the 16th Dec 2010 to 5th January 2011 so if you email me, I can only reply if/when I get the chance to use the internet in some random dodgy internet cafe in Hong Kong. In case you have forgotten/lost my email address, be ashamed of yourself, and then email me at askmisscheng@gmail.com.
Till then, take care! See you next year.
Hint: Will be seeing you almost every day.
Cheers,
Miss Cheng

Cool as ever, you are awesome as ever Ms Cheng! :DD

It was rare times like these that I enjoy.
instead of training today, our club had a recreational activity day instead :D

that day: friday 17/12/10
i reached pasir ris mrt at 9.30am but thought they weren't there yet. I sat at a bench till 10am, listening to music from my phone.
gathered later together, only to find out that some had reached before 10 too.
so we went to buy snacks and drinks after that, followed by a 10min walk to pasir ris park.
we found a place near the sandy beach, placed a plastic sheet on the short grass underneath a coconut tree. Then Edi found out that he lost his iphone!

we spent the next hour or so, doing a hunt for his iphone, retracing his route and going all the way back to the bus interchange to look for it in case he dropped it along the way. However, our efforts were kind of futile as there were clues that it had been taken by another person, a cantonese speaking middle age guy? So, we gave up searching and Edi, i felt, was feeling kind of downhearted even though we all had put in our utmost effort to find it.

I tried to fly my kites after that. My first attempt failed as one of my kites got tangled in the leaves of a coconut tree. I had to cut the kite string T.T
my second attempt was initially a success! the kite flew high into the azure blue sky, unfortunately, the string ran out and i hadn't tied the end of the string to the reel. I think the kite may have flown to the dense forest or somewhere beyond, like wild wild wet. good luck kite. i imagined it drifting off, yelling "freedom~"
so 2nd attempt failed...
as i walked back, i found my first kite drifting down the coconut tree! i eventually retrieved my first kite, awesome! although i was still sad at losing the 2nd one.

after that incident, we settled down on that plastic sheet and played card games. i could say that everybody's mood was lightened up after that. haha
the soft beach sand beckoned us to play on it. we played frisbee on the beach afterwards. then followed by a little sand castle building by shawn and I.

volleyball was played, not really volleyball, but just passing it around. we had to deal with soft sticky mud! shoes beware!

we had lunch at Just Acia at E!hub. i ate till my stomach ached. their teriyaki chicken set was good ^^
drank lots of root beer topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

the day came to a close with a game of bowling. honestly, this was my first attempt at bowling. although i didnt know what to do, i knew i had to knock all the pins down. got a lot of gutter balls but it was fun! i got a strike at the last attempt which came as a surprise, haha. but i have to admit, it was quite exhilarating.

when i returned home, i found i had a distinct tan line around my arms... nnnoooooo..
there, i had a great day and i hope more people will come for the next recreational activity :D

My thoughts while researching for Econs project.

Start; 8.15pm

Flow of idea:

Define basics, state definitions=>

the implication of an under valued yuan on global economies

implication= meaning or consequence

undervalued= underappreciated, below its estimated value

global economies= economic system of world: the interdependent economies of the world's nations, regarded as a single economic system

what do you understand of this topic?

Im clueless, okay...

Rephrased= what is the consequence of an underappreciated Yuan on economies of other countries.

Getting an idea?

Slightly...

We are supposed to explore” meaningful links” between economic theory and “real life issues”

So we have to copy some stuff out of that thick thick econs book too? Huhu

Here, real life issue = our topic

Theory= depreciation of a currency, how this affects other countries. Export/import affected? Exchange rate, trade competitiveness...etc

So you getting a better idea?

And so we need to explain this in our project.

Thus, devaluing the yuan leads to what consequence? That we have to find out.

Process: researching~

Pretty important topic here, so many websites... cant find newspaper articles, all sold to karang guni man the night before... LOL

Process: reading materials...

Thoughts: hmm... it seems that people have different views on its consequence.

To summarise, this can be classified under 3 broad groups.

Good consequence. Bad consequence. And Goad (good+bad)

BUT! Important thing to note. We do not want any info on the consequence on china’s economy. Rather, its the world’s we’re concerned about.

In this case, the countries most repeatedly mentioned in my research are US(mainly US, must find out why), Japan, Eurozone and occasionally India, south america and SE Asia.

(pause) stoning... i feel sleepy...

Awakes from stoned state, 2 minutes have past.

So what consequence are there? Explain the would-be consequences, also taking care not to drag too much about why china does not want its Yuan to appreciate rapidly.

Ahhh... its 10.30pm

(stops research)

Take break, drinks cup of milk.

Continue the next day. goodnight sleepyhead.

Knockout!
