Ever since I started work, my days have gone past in a flash.
Hours fly by and minutes vanish, but the tasks never-ending.
Sometimes I feel that work is a bore, other times, I feel that it is actually quite fun.
Take today as an example. I just arranged pieces of paper in order and filed them...the whole day.
It was, in my opinion, the plainest and most boring task.
Then, because my co-worker was on MC. Thus i took over the task of being a receptionist.
And as soon as i sat down, i was aurally assaulted by the torrent of ringing.
Surprisingly, that was the most exciting part of the day, not enjoyable but certainly the least boring.
It was certainly better than sitting in the meeting room alone, mumbling to myself and remembering all the embarrassing stuff I did in the past.
The hustle and bustle was what kept me going for the rest of the afternoon. Despite reminding myself not to look at the time, I soon did, and frankly, I was astonished how fast time passes by.
I often lament that I needed more time in the past. After packing up all my notes and tutorials in cardboard boxes, I soon found that time slowed to a crawl. There's simply so little to do with so much time.
I could only conclude that being busy or being kept occupied with an activity makes you less sensitive to time, or perhaps change the way you perceive time to be passing. I still had the same amount of time each day, everyone does, 24 hours, nothing more, nothing less.
I was so busy that i COULDN'T care less about the time.
I still wonder why im so obsessed with time.

Hope my colleagues enjoy their D & D night out :)
Today, I realised that I wrote addresses in the wrong format on 307 letters! My supervisor said that it was okay, since i already wrote them. So a shout out to those property agents receiving this letter, you know its a letter i wrote since the address format is wrong. Not to sound egotistic... but its a special letter from the one and only ME!
Sorry, i will write them correctly the next time.
I was released at 3pm today (huh...captive in the Office) because my company is having a Dinner & Dance event tonight at MBS. I had to go to granny's house to fetch Auntie Tree back to our home.
It was awkward, it was an awful awkward journey with people staring at me. (or was it just my imagination) Maybe they're thinking " Why is such a young boy wearing work clothes?"
My work wardrobe consists mainly 60% of common office men's wear such as black long cotton pants and "uniform-like" cotton shirts. The 40% are polo shirts.
Ok, so i got to granny's house and she was watching Chinese dramas. It's good to see her once in a while :) She will then pester me to eat my meals or take an ice cream from the fridge.
I ate my dinner at 4pm, left for home with Auntie tree at 5, but not before hugging my granny!
She treats me so well, oh, we're having her birthday celebration on the 2nd day of CNY so I'll make sure to get her some extra nice mandarin oranges for new year.
Reached home by bus and paid the full fare...no more concessions any more... so my card runs out of money pretty fast! I pay an average of $2.60 everyday instead of the usual $0.95 when i was a student.
I changed my clothes then left at 6pm to meet up with Eddy, Veron and FZ for prawning.
Met up with Eddy and Veron in the bus and we chat a lot, mainly teasing Eddy haha.
FZ met up with us later at the place, some where in AMK.
It was fun learning how to catch a prawn. I missed quite a few catches but eventually caught my first. We had to pull off their pincers after we catch them, the reason which i learnt of after one of them nipped my finger and wouldn't let go. Oww...
We played tai tee as we waited for the prawn of bite our baits. Seems that i have a bad hand at tai tee today, but i was glad everyone seemed to have fun.
It was fun to get a catch! Got initially let a few slip away because i didn't know the correct technique to hook them. We took turns, sharing the 2 rods and laughed at FZ and Veron when they seem so disgusted by the crustaceans. They seemed okay with fishing them out instead haha.
We had otah and chicken wings in between some sessions, a little expensive but it tasted good.
After 3 hours, (i didn't realise how time passed by so quickly o.o) we took our catch to the grill
and ate them with satay and coconut juice. mmm...yum
Also, it seems that everyone is doing part-time jobs and such, but it seems that i started earliest ( since i started work Mid December last year -.- ) BUSY AS A BEE! while my friends going NS in January are enjoying themselves, trying to fill their remaining days before NS with as much leisurely activities as possible!
We took a cab home since we felt that paying some extra money for more comfort was a reward our tired bodies deserved.
It was shocking to witness the scene of a motor accident along the way. As we drove past, i noticed the shattered glass of the motorist's helmet, along with shrapnel from the badly damaged motorbike which looks more like twisted scrap metal together with a figure laid on the ground with a white cloth drapped over it. It is so unfortunate that a person's life has to end this way. CNY is around the corner, the person may be hoping to spend some memorable times with family; but it seems highly unlikely now...
Chatted with the driver for a while after my 3 buddies have alighted then thanked the driver as i gave him the fare. ( he lives in Jurong and reaches home at 1-2am everyday o.o) This old man is still going strong!
so here i am typing my day out. I'm going to sleep now because my eyelids are half closed.
so... good night!

I just received a postcard from my tuition buddy! It was in the letterbox one day after i got back home from work. It had curious letters on it which i realised were Thai. No wonder you asked for my address, haha. You sent it via airmail!
I haven't got the chance to give you a gift from Taiwan yet :/
Thanks for the card by the way, I love receiving cards and letters in a age where simple one liner text messages and long distance communication via phone are so prevalent. It makes you feel that the person has gone through the effort to actually contact you, and...it kind of makes me feel special. laugh*
Plus, messages by technology display generic fonts and not actual handwriting which are unique to every individual, which can actually convey actual feeling through writing.
Ok, on to my past week in The Office:
-I actually saved two-thirds of my weekly allowance because i ate free lunch which are leftover from buffets for seminars.
-I have become more confident at handling phone calls and even make my tone less monotonous and sound more pleasant.
-I have come to appreciate agents who are polite over the phone and abhor those who are impatient and rude.
-It is hard for me to converse with people i know very little about, especially those who are really quiet.
-I should try to learn some Malay phrases to chat with my colleagues :)
-You can get fat from working at such a place. Simply from the amount of food have waiting to be eaten.
-My Shifu is very patient and meticulous in teaching me how to do tasks.
-I like working here :) although the work is a tad monotonous.
-I pondered a lot about my past because the work is monotonous. A lot about my past. I seem to always remember the funniest, most embarrassing or happiest moments though.
Ok, mainly the embarrassing moments...Oh God Why...

I just wolfed down my dinner, yes, I don't mean that I turned into one and ate my meal but yes, I ate it without savouring every bite, just gulping action throughout.
I was that hungry. You see, what happened was that I tried to be miserly to my own stomach and tried to diet today. Usually I don't because I like to eat and actively exercise.
The true motive of dieting was to save some pocket money.
With the weekends looming near, I knew that some extra cash would be handy for my outings with my friends.
I started my day by going to work. As usual for the past 2-3 weeks, I took the train to Bishan, arrive at 9am, registered my IC at the security guard booth at my work building, then spend at least 3 minutes waiting outside the office because the lock requires the thumbprint of full time employees.
Despite the doors being made out of glass, people inside usually have their eyeballs glued to their computer screens and being as busy as a bee.
I wait for the next colleague to arrive, greet them cheerfully (oh joy! I can finally enter), then go in.
I seat myself in the meeting room, prepare my laptop for work then eat my breakfast.
Today's breakfast consisted of a mamee noodle snack and a square of chocolate.
:D
Yes im being miserly today stomach! you better handle it!
So there i was, being a busy bee with work: data entry, filing, checking.
THEN the hunger kicked in at 11am. Hunger kicked in fast and when you least expect it, like a ninja. It kicked my stomach pretty good too.
I drank some water to alleviate it, after all, it was just another hour to lunch, I could last this out...
Yes im being miserly today stomach! you better handle it! No rich with assorted dishes today! No hokkien mee! No indonesian fried chicken set lunch with spicy soup! NO DEEP FRIED SWEET POTATO FRITTERS!
For lunch: Jam sandwich with a fresh apple and a gingerbread cookie in the shape of a pine tree.
I ate them and then sheepishly took quick glances at my colleague's lunch: Tom Yum fish soup with rice and spicy pickles.
you can pretty much picture this in your head, that i am in fact a silly boy. Sadly yes... But for more pocket money to spend during the weekends! Hmmph! thats enough reason to be that foolish!
Then you ask, since I'm working, why am I so short of money?
Well, i haven't gotten my wages yet, that's all. :)
Eh, not everyone is lucky enough to receive so much pocket money from your parents.
then i continued work after 1pm
I left work at 6pm, reached home ravenous.
so that was how my day pretty much was.
pretty interesting right? no?
aw...
i had a really weird but happy dream last night. Everything took place in a school that was non-existent in reality. The best part was that person X appeared and hugged me. I have not seen person X in more than 2 months, who proceeded to hugged me from behind and wouldn't let go. In that moment, i felt so surprised and happy. We both smiled at each other... then i forgot the rest of the dream.
I woke up to find my blanket hugging me instead. Laughs
what a weird dream, i had plenty of deja vus before, so will this happen one day too?
