I haven't done much physical activity since last week mostly due to the haze lingering over the island. I have instead chosen to spend most of my time browsing Reddit, listening to obscure/indie/funk music as well as reading my little handbook of basic theory driving test and a book a friend lent to me titled Quiet by Susan Cain.
While browsing youtube, I also discovered several homegrown bands and I've taken a liking to Typewriter's That Deepest Blue :)
So I've spent yesterday, in the smokeless confines of my home, reading as well as happily listening to music on my ipod. My brain cautions me against being too sloth-like, so i'm pretty restless. Still, its good to have a lazy weekend afternoon doing absolutely nothing, which, is doing something.
I've not given much thought about what University life will be and i'm living army life on a week by week basis. I'M STARTING TO FEEL THAT I SHOULD EMBARK ON SOME GRAND QUEST FOR KNOWLEDGE but I don't know where to begin. I'm just reading books for now, watching movies or whatever media I can get my hands on. Otherwise, I'll just expend that energy working out. Physical activity is an outlet for me to release that energy.
I'm glad to say that I've achieved my gold standard for IPPT once more. The constant running helped me quite a bit. The training actually helped me to shave a cool 30 seconds from my previous record. However, I felt that I could have done better because the run was held on a day with PSI hovering near 200.
It was possibly the worst run I'd ever had. I was forced to gulp acrid, dry air which caused a searing sensation in my throat as well as the increased production of mucus. I finished the run, gasping and choking but felt fine after catching my breath.
The only good effect of the haze, I feel, was that it gave the sunset a brilliant red hue which was beautiful.

A foot raised slightly upwards
Then my shin forward and thigh downwards
My sole makes contact with the asphalt, first the tip and gradually
the arc, then ever so teasingly, tickle the heel.
A step in front.
Replicate action for other leg.
Another step.
My body moves in tandem with my steps. Right foot, torso swerve right, left arm swing forward and cuts right across chest.
The steps become more fluid. Moving was all that mattered, more action less thinking, its instinctive.
Breaths are deep but still through the nostrils.
The gap between strides widen.
My muscle fibres tighten and stretch, a pleasing feeling.
The tarmac feels like powder as I glide down the jogging path.
The air was still but I made it move again.
The evening rays sifts through the dense vegetation lining the path.
Spots of orange-red flicker, doing a brief dance on my skin before vanishing.
The whole path seems to be a Pointillism style painting.
My soles, they feel warm.
The still air in front is punctured.
The wind caresses my cheeks and plays wildly with my hair.
I seem to be breathing my own warm breath again.
My hands are still half clenched as I feel the hair on my knuckles bristle.
Its a great feeling!
My breaths get deeper and faster but I continue down the path.

I've been through the store checks!
Accounting for hundreds of items is no mean feat. Worse still, my store items are loaned to other units across the island! An untidy store database makes the task all the more challenging. I still managed to account for the items in the end.
What did I learn from this period of time? I learnt that logistics is a tedious and effort consuming task and the only way to make my task easier is to conduct my own weekly checks on my items, maintain a list of the whereabouts of certain stores and making sure that my workload is shared with my platoon.
Meanwhile, I'm still learning basic road ettiquette from this little book called the Basic Theory Handbook. I haven't managed to book a test date this month so I booked one next month instead, giving me more than sufficient time to revise for it.
I watched Hangover3 with my pals yesterday. It was a ridiculously funny movie! Make sure to stay after the credits for a surprise.
